Chris’s Gallery
Chris is a part-time lampworker who enjoys playing at the torch. He is the glass-working half of Pixybug Designs, a jewelry and glass business he runs with his wife, Stephanie. His style runs from cute to eww, with detours into marbles, focals, small sculpture, and more. Chris shares his love for lampworking with others by demonstrating bead and marble making as often as he can. Additonally, he has written three tutoridals for Soda Lime TImes, Here There Be Dragons in 2014, Suddenly Sluggy in 2018, and Emerging - Organic Soft Glass Marble.
His interest in melting glass started in high school chemistry class when he played with a Bunsen burner, pulling pipettes in the flame. The catalyst for his current work started with an accidental encounter that ended with him being signed up for a beginning bead making class. He has been fortunate in his glass career to take classes from a wide variety of glass artists, 14 at last count. The classes covered a wide variety of beadmaking techniques, with a bit of soft glass sculpture and furnace work thrown in too.
